I have a special love affair with Drupal and I am very vocal about it. I really enjoy its combination of flexibility and usability while it's still very good at being powerful, secure and easy to use at the same time.
Also I am a 29Y old Father holding a BA in Philosophy/IT/Classical Languages/Entrepreneurship from the University of Oslo and a proud Ubuntu Community member.
A whirlwind tour through the major features of Drush, the Drupal shell. At first, Drush is handy for greatly speeding up administration on your Drupal site. Once your ken grows, learn how to write your own Drush commands and execute commands on remote servers.
The intent of this session is to show whats possible. The notes from the presentation will document all commands so just sit back and enjoy the ride.
Come learn about the new changes coming down the pipe in Drupal 7 from the release co-maintainer!
Since February 2008, the community has been hard at work on Drupal 7, which is rapidly nearing completion (or possibly already complete ;)). I've been a Drupal developer for three years, and came to it from general PHP web development. I did that for five years and built a number of online archives for musuems and libraries. My first Drupal experience was maintaining sites for a company that sold audio donwloads and I've now partnered up with the head of that company to start a new venture called Pilot Internet - www.pilotinternet.com - which focuses on building Drupal sites for business.
Dan Smith is based in Alsager, Cheshire, UK and has been using the internet before the web existed. He helps to organise Drupal events in the North West and was the key organiser of DrupalcampUK, as well as attending several other Manchester based user groups. He can often be found in the #drupaluk IRC channel.
