Paul Lovvik is a software engineer at Acquia. He honed his JavaScript skills while designing and implementing a feature-rich single-load email application while working at Openwave Systems. During that project Paul encountered countless issues with the JavaScript platform including poor performance and memory leaks. These issues were resolved almost entirely by changing the coding practices of the development team to avoid closures like the plague.

Before Openwave Paul worked at Sun Microsystems developing applications and APIs in both Java and C. His favorite books of all time include "Writing Solid Code", "Design Patterns", and "The Pragmatic Programmer".
